Behind the Scenes
It's another fine day! Today I thought you should get a chance to check out some of our components and hear about the design work that went into them.
Card Packs
Technically, this game would be perfectly fun and functional if we just gave you the full drafting pool at once. But after some playtesting, we decided it'd be ideal to curate your first-time experience with a good mix of straightforward and interesting build-around cards.
At that point, we totally could have gone with plain plastic-wrapped decks... but card packs are more fun to open. And there isn't any pack filler either: every card is solid in the right hands!
Episode Boxes
We first thought of Episodes as a way for us to release standalone expansions if we wanted, so that we could design a variety of settings and let people choose their favorite ones to play. But the word "Episode" was so evocative that we immediately knew even if we didn't make standalone expansions, it was the better gameplay decision anyway. In addition to letting us do cooler worldbuilding, it really improved the deckbuilding and combat experience too.
Each of the Episodes gets its own decorated box wrap treatment so that you can display them on your game shelf if you want to show off your accomplishments. It also makes it way easier to do setup, because all you have to do is bring out a single Episode Box instead of picking through a big pile of boss cards.
Episode Trays
When it comes to the trays inside the Episode Boxes, we couldn't just use a cookie-cutter approach. Each Episode has its own boss designs, which means different shapes and indentations are required to accommodate all of the card types and sizes in a specific Episode.
For example, Friendly Bartender's deck of drinks gets to nestle into a nice slot in the Episode 2 tray.
Each Episode Tray is designed to be deep enough to accommodate card packs, but shallow enough that the components don't get messy every time you bring the game somewhere.
Next week we'll tour three more components: the damage tokens, player mats and box tray. But until then...
Your Backstory
It's been great getting to meet so many of you, and I'm really curious to know: what brought you into the board game world, and what kind of games are you into now? Do you prefer co-op games, deckbuilders, or something else? Whatever you'd like to share, I'd love to hear about it. Leave a comment below to share your gaming backstory!

The Final Vote Begins!

It feels like we just launched this campaign yesterday! It's been a lot of fun, and we've been using our spare time to finalize components so we can get your game ready as fast as possible. Here's your news for the week...
THE FINAL VOTE
DO66-0 is well under construction and we almost have the art completely finished! Your final choice is between two types of defense mechanism for Stoic Doggo. This will be the card that will let Stoic protect you from hits at the cost of energy... which design fits better? As usual: if you explain why, it'll count as two votes! ✨
You have until May 12, so make sure to leave a comment before then with your thoughts!
Episode 2 Design Diary
Episode 2 takes place in a Wild West setting, so our challenge was figuring out how to design bosses and mechanics to make you feel like a cool gunslinger. We also wanted to make sure our Bowslinger, Will, had a particularly fun time, because this is his lore episode!
Next update we'll be going on a tour of our different components so you can get a better idea of what's going on inside of the box. See you then!

Design Diary: Episode 1

Finished Doggo Art!
Zachary has just finished polishing up our Doggos and painting their backgrounds. We love em and hope you do too!
Voting Complete!
The previous poll between Doggos was extremely close, but this time it was a landslide victory: We'll be using Bark as Stoic Doggo's attack style! I liked all the comments reasoning that our Scrappy Doggo would be the one doing close-range attacks, so we'll work with Zachary to make a good equivalent melee attack for Scrappy.
We're almost finished Doggo assembly: next week we'll choose one final piece of art to represent Stoic Doggo's defensive skills. Stay tuned!
Artwork Sneak Peek
One-Hit Heroes is all about our six main Heroes of course, but you'll encounter plenty of other friends and/or enemies on your adventure.
So here's your imaginary scenario of the day: One will join you. The others will try to take you down. Who do you choose?

The votes are in… and more!

Drum roll!
It's been really fun reading all of your comments and votes in favor of each Doggo design. I've carefully tallied the votes, and then tallied them again because it was a very close vote. But we officially have a winner! Introducing…
STOIC is our winner!!
But we're not done assembling DO66-0 yet! Zachary Whistle has drafted up two ways for Doggo to deal damage: a close-range attack and a long-range attack. (This has no impact on gameplay, it’s just aesthetics). What fighting style fits our stoic Doggo the most?
Leave a comment with your vote — if you include why, it’ll count as two 💥. You'll have until April 30 to submit your vote! But before you do…
The votes between the top two Doggos were extremely close. So close, that we've decided:
"SCRAPPY" will ALSO be included in your Companion Hero add-on!
When you play One-Hit Heroes, you'll be able to flip between the default STOIC defensive mode or the SCRAPPY damage mode. Now you can look forward to bringing two pups home with your copy of One-Hit Heroes!
Okay, NOW it’s time. Leave a comment to vote on what Doggo's fighting style should be, and why. You have until April 30!
Talk to you soon,

PS: For those of you who voted for Playful, don't worry - I have a feeling he'll sneak into a card pack somewhere...
